9ice "Versus"

Label:Tjoe Records

Tracklisting

1. 9ice VS TuFace Idibia (9/10)
Very beautiful song; not just because it's titled beautiful but the song is awesome, 9ice lyrics and his delivery on here shows us how he appreciates life while 2face came correct and he reminded us why he's one of the best in the music industry. Positve music, great production - there's no way you won't be forced to hit the replay button.
2. 9ice VS VIP(7/10) - Ok song! so typical - meaning something you should expect from African musicians! Love tune, Sweet Melody!! No Biggie,
3. 9ice VS Wizkid (8.5/10) - When you have a Dancehall beat it's only right for you to put Wizkid on the hook he kills it all the time and not only that, his lyrics on here was on point. 9ice delivery was weak i expected a lil more from him especially on a track with Wizkid, drugs hook!!
4. 9ice VS Banky W (5/10) - Senseless song! Both 9ice and Banky kept repeating their lyrics, i was expecting something better from Banky just because he's BANKY W. They should both be punished for wasting the beat.
5.9ice (8.5/10) - Very drugs song, this is the 9ice we knew in the days of his first and second album. Very original, interesting story line to it also. Another thing is that you can't help but move to the beat, the beat sounds like what Ebenezer Obey will go off on, Great production!
6. 9ice VS Kayefi (8/10) - Kayefi went ham as expected; powerful message behind the song. its all about letting go of the past! i wonder who 9ice was subbing if you have problems letting go > Listen to 9ice vs Kayefi with a bottle of Hennessy.
7. 9ice VS Tiwa Savage (7/10) - 9ice coming together with Tiwa Savage is one cute song for the lovers out there, It's ok to say Tiwa's intimate appeal speaking Yoruba is a plus, nothing special about the track though, you can find yourself pushing the next(skip) button when the song comes on though.
8. 9ice VS Psquare (8.5/10) - One thing that gets you with this track is the beat and the production, 9ice Vs Psquare gives you some type of motivation, Psquare is written all over the track: sounds like something they will do but with a love story behind it. If you are listening to 9ice for the first time you'll think he's a Gospel artist.
9. 9ice VS Timaya (7.5/10) - 9ice Vs Timaya is for shallow minds; ego booster that's what i'll call it, i can bet 9ice wrote Timaya's verse i mean he wasn't screaming dem mama n dem papa, Pretty decent tune.
10.9ice VS Seriki (6.5/10) - Catchy tune with his label mate, Seriki did justice i mean we already know he's a comedian.
11. 9ice VS Kwa Kese(7.5/10) - First the beat gets you moving then the marvelous hook, the noise Kwa Kese is making in the background made the song even better, Tunes like this you have no choice but to actually like especially when you dont understand what Kwa Kese is talking about but he's flowing,
12.9ice VS Duncan Mighty (8/10) - 9ice went political with Duncan Mighty, you can't go wrong when you have the port harcourt first son on your song. We all know the political system in Nigeria is terrible so 9ice talking about it shows us a different side of Adigun.
13. 9ice VS MI (7/10) - Subliminal track from 9ice and MI, if you don't know about the beef between Ruggedman and 9ice; here's a track warning Ruggedman and his crew, we all know 9ice is all about the street, MI came through with very cheap flows, nursery rhymes not really impressed felt like someone like Sauce Kid would have done better on the beat. Decent song for the street!
14. 9ice VS Mode9 (8/10) - Probably the realest tune on the album, they both went nut on the beat, You gotta love the beat, some crazy production done here also. We all know that Mode9 is one the best lyricist in Nigeria so 9ice VS Mode9 = Yoruba Lyricist + English Lyricist coming together. Another one for the street!
15. 9ice VS Kwam1 (8.5/10) - Another classic tune from two different artists from different generations; Calm music, Positive music and most importantly Matured Music!!
16. 9ice VS Dagrin (9/10) - Classic song on the versus album, you don't have to speak Yoruba to understand the concept of the song; #Warning!!! Dagrin came correct, his rhymes were on point, there's no way you won't rap along when his part comes on, #RIPAKOGUN
17. 9ice Vs Wizboy (6/10) - Decent!!
18. 9ice VS Ajayi Brovas (5/10) - Bad Remix!!

9ice "Bashorun Gaa"

Label: Tjoe Records

9ice whose real name is Abolore Adegbola Akande was born on 17 January 1980. He is a south-westerner that traced his origin to Ogbomoso in Oyo State but has thus far lived the life of a Lagosian in the densely populated suburb of Bariga, bordering Yaba, Akoka, Ebute Metta and other adjourning areas of Nigeria’s Centre of Excellence. Young 9ice, who attended Abeokuta Primary School and CMS Grammar School, dropped out his Law programme at the Lagos State University to concentrate on music. He grew up in a polygamous home of five wives and nine children. For 9ice it was tough growing up and when he had the chance of relaying his inspiration for Gongo Aso, he simply says this: ‘I have spent most of my life fending for myself. Although, my parents are still alive, I was the one taking most of the decisions such as payment of school fees and making the choice of career. It is like a soul, which has been deprived of so many things, which other kids enjoy.’ His parents never knew he sings until about a year after he started around 2000. Before then, 9ice has spent considerable time writing his own songs which he dated back to when he was just 14 years old. It is worth noting that as a big fan of Pasuma Wonder, he kick-started his singing career with Fuji music.

From Oakland, CA comes Del the Funky Homosapien; a true innovator & legend in the world of Hip-Hop. Having already turned out incredible releases in the 90s, the early 2000s saw Del's star rise even further. Del linked up with super-producer Dan The Automator and world-class turntablist Kid Koala to create one of the most innovative Hip-Hop albums in modern history, Deltron 3030. Deltron received amazing reviews (4.5 stars from Rolling Stone) and continued on to further secure Del's place in Hip-Hop history. The ideas and concepts born with Deltron 3030 allowed for the creation of Del's next project; the Gorillaz collaboration. With Dan The Automator at the helm, Damon Albarn (Blur), Tom Tom Club's Tina Weymouth, Buena Vista Social Club star Ibrahim Ferrer and Kid Koala working together, the album was an immediate hit. Del's vocals on the smash single "Clint Eastwood" helped the Gorillaz sell over 5 million records. Recently Del dropped "Golden Era", which Hiphopdx describes as "Del channeling the emcees of the late 80s—stream-of-consciousness raps punctuated by ridiculous braggadocio—but through a filter that is unmistakably Del." Now The Council proudly bring you "Golden Era" the way many of us heard the golden era, on vinyl. This double LP release from Del the Funky Homosapien features 4 bonus tracks not available on CD.

Bad Meets Evil (Eminem + Royce 5'9")"Hell: The Sequel"

Label:Shady Records

The Bad Meets Evil teaming in the late '90s of underground Detroit MC's Eminem and Royce da 5'9" became a rap legend of unfulfilled promise. Now, a decade after they last recorded together, Eminem and Royce da 5'9" have revived their Bad Meets Evil project, today officially announcing that an EP on Shady/Interscope Records will be released June 14th.
"Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio," said Eminem. "At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are."
Added Royce, "I'm excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now. We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we're working on the 'Monster' that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady."
The two first met in 1997 at a concert in Detroit and soon formed Bad Meets Evil (Royce as Bad and Eminem as Evil). But they released just a few recordings, including the song "Bad Meets Evil" on Eminem's major label debut, The Slim Shady LP and a heralded independent Bad Meets Evil 12" featuring the now underground classic, "Scary Movies." The pair went their separate ways in their solo careers only to be separated by a reluctant feud, thus making it the last time they would be heard together for several years. Sadness over the tragic shooting death of mutual friend Proof in 2006 led to mended fences with Eminem's group D12, which prompted an eventual reconciliation between the two rappers. Eminem and Royce were finally once again on speaking terms after Royce was featured on D12's 2008 mixtape Return Of The Dozen and later went on tour with the group.
Since then, Royce has continued his acclaimed solo career (all three of his officially released albums, most recently 2009's Street Hop, have cracked the Top 40 R&B/Hip-hop chart). With rap stalwarts Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz, he has also formed Slaughterhouse, recently signed to Eminem's Shady Records. In addition, Slaughterhouse contributed a bonus track to the digital deluxe edition of Eminem's blockbuster 2010 Recovery album.
The bulk of the EP's production was helmed by longtime collaborator and D12 member, Mr. Porter (a/k/a Kon Artis) and also features contributions from Mobb Deep's Havoc, DJ Khalil and Bangladesh among others.

Corey Woods aka Raekwon The Chef, aka Lex Diamonds, aka Shallah, Raekwon has been a staple in the Entertainment industry since his debut in 1993 as an integral part in undeniably one of the greatest Hip-Hop groups to date, the legendary Wu-Tang Clan. Rae's verbal ability took center stage early in the original cult classic "Protect Ya Neck", but little did the world know as we bopped our heads in unison to the mesmerizing Wu-Tang catalog, that we were merely indulging in delicious appetizers delivered by Rae. It wasn't until 1995, when Raekwon The Chef emerged from the kitchen and invited the Hip-Hop faithful into his personal chamber and the world was privileged to partake in the perfectly sautéed full course meal cooked by the Chef himself culminating with the album that changed the game as we knew it...
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is a Hip-Hop classic that would serve as binoculars for not only how the general public would view Hip-Hop artists, but also and more importantly, how Hip-Hop artists would view themselves Raekwon has influenced many of the Hip-Hop aficionado's such as Wyclef, Outkast, The Game, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Eminem, The Lox and the late great Big Pun. Never before had the game seen the flashy swagger, coupled with the Mafioso undertones that so eloquently fit, along with the use of numerous aliases by an artist, the unprecedented skits, the Staten Island slang and the verbal techniques that Raekwon The Chef so effortlessly demonstrated in the Platinum classic album that would withstand the test of time. By possessing these rare qualities and Iron Chef credentials, the Brooklyn born "Shaolin" bred MC became one of the most versatile Hip- Hop artists that the industry has ever seen and considered by many as one of the Greatest MC's Of All Time. Much like the career of one of his favorite artists, Marvin Gaye, Raekwon not only appeals to the male dominated street community but he also possesses the unique ability to attract a huge female following. The hoods all across America have been craving for it, the streets have been starving, and now the country is famished for the release of Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang.
With years of valuable experience from working alongside some of the most influential figures in the recording industry to date, Raekwon is ready to navigate his ship with the formation of his record label, IceH20 records and reemerge his urban flair to the masses with the aforementioned blockbuster. This Shaolin Island legendary flamethrower, gave fans something to chow on with the `09 release of the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 ("The Purple Tape") and his lyrical recipe has been groomed to make his presence felt Worldwide. This lyrical juggernaut has been marinating and is now ready to assume the throne and his rightful position as the flashy Don of Dons and Hip-Hop ambassador in the entertainment industry. The album features cameos from many industry heavyweights such as The Wu-Tang Clan, Rick Ross, Raheem Devaughn, Jim Jones, Black Thought, and many others. Blazing tracks from the who's who of extraordinary Hip-Hop producers such as the Eric Sermon, DJ Khalil, Scram Jones, Havoc, Kenny Dope, Allah Mathematics and Alchemist, layered with Raekwon's melodic flows, thought provoking visual content and street orientated delivery. "He promised it. The fans demanded it. And, now it's finally here! Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang, the long awaited concept album from Raekwon the Chef. Back with the gritty tales from the street that have made him a hip hop legend, Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang captures Raekwon at the top of his lyrical game. The album includes tracks such as: "Molasses" featuring Rick Ross, "Rich and Black feat. Nas, "Last Trip to Scotland" feat Lloyd Banks and many more. Having enjoyed unparalleled comeback success with the 2009 release of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, Raekwon is back again to give the fans exactly what he promised them. And, they won't be disappointed."

While often grouped in the “beats scene” alongside Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus and others, Paul White’s hip hop sensibility has always been at the forefront, which partly explains why his 2010 podcast for LA’s Stones Throw Records racked up 300,000 downloads in just a few weeks and alerted a vast new audience to the young Brit. All this meant that assembling some of his favourite MCs was the easy part. Stones Throw artist Guilty Simpson appears twice, his grim warnings perfectly matching the sparse, brooding production on lead single ‘Trust’. Gap-toothed, mohawked Danny Brown is one of rap’s rising stars – a recent signing to A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold label, his lewd punchlines top White’s exuberant production on the not-safe-for-work ‘One Of Life’s Pleasures’. There’s humour in New Yorker Homeboy Sandman’s turn too, as one of hip hop’s most likeable lyricists recounts his cultural missteps during a trip to London over a quintessential Paul White track. Jehst shows why he’s one of the UK’s most respected MCs on ‘Indigo Glow’, and Tranqill lays waste to ‘Rotten Apples’ in the album’s grittiest moment. And how may hip hop records feature a folk singer from Wigan, Nancy Elizabeth laughing her way through a bizarre Edward Lear poem? There’s plenty for fans of Paul’s instrumental work too: from waltzing drum machines to medieval vocoders, the interludes are as compelling as the vocal tracks.

The essence of urban living to its all time fullest, block after block, the brick buildings, the hot sun... Areas and struggles of the ghetto I myself walked and experienced. You can't live it through television, you have to walk out and touch it like I've done for years. To all the areas that many people will not visit, I will constantly.” This follow up presents 12 new tracks in the Dorrsett saga, plus eight instrumentals.
