Raheem DeVaughn " Love & War Masterpiece"
Label:Jive Records
Raheem DeVaughn released his third album "The Love And War MasterPeace" and judging from the title, one would think that it's an album full of social commentary. Actually, only three songs are geared towards that topic- the Ludacris assisted "Bulletproof", the song "Nobody Wins A War" (which has a guest list longer than the average DJ Khaled song), and the closing track "Revelations 2010" which samples Jay-Z's "Can I Live". Most of the production on this album is handled by Masters At Work alumni Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez, who was also responsible for Raheem's debut single "Guess Who Loves You More". Orthodox & Ransum, who produced his biggest hit "Customer", return for the song "Mr. Right". Lil' Ronnie, who did R. Kelly's "I'm A Flirt" contributes three songs, including the domestic violence themed "Black And Blue". On the song "B.O.B." he sings about wooing a woman who is too attached to her sex toy (The acronym stands for Battery Operated Boyfriend). The Ne-Yo penned "I Don't Care" warrants a few spins- even if it does sound a lot like Robin Thicke's 2008 single "Magic". For as lengthy as this album is, surprisingly, it contains no filler. In short, this album is Raheem's best by a landslide.
